Terpenes
Oil based molecules found in the plants that give the plant different potential benefits and aromas. Each terpene has specific healthful properties, allowing cannabidiol products to have targeted benefits, like relieving headaches and reducing nausea. These terpenes are utilized in some CBD products, like topicals, to add a pleasant aroma without adding artificial perfumes.
Terpene Distillation
A process used in order to extract specific terpenes from the cannabis plant. This is used to isolate each terpene and extract them in a method similar to THC extraction.
Terpsolate
The combination of some terpenes and CBD isolate, which results in a potent CBD product with some of the benefits of broad-spectrum products as well. Terpsolate is frequently used for dabbing.
Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)
One of many cannabinoids in the cannabis plant. THC is responsible for the psychoactive effects related to using cannabis products and is most often used recreationally.
Tincture
A type of CBD product that is potent and in liquid form. Tinctures are taken orally (usually sublingually) and contain high doses of CBD. Some tinctures are flavored to mask the original taste of the hemp.
Topical
A product used on top of the skin. Topicals may include salves, lotions, ointments, and oils. CBD topicals allow the skin to absorb the cannabidiol to reap its potential benefits for treating acne, eczema, and other skin conditions. Sometimes topicals include other cannabinoids and terpenes, as well as essential oils or other additives to create a pleasant scent.
Torch
Tool with a large open flame that is used to heat the nail on a dab rig in order to vaporize THC concentrates. A torch reaches incredibly high temperatures and should be used with care.
Transdermal
Any products that can be absorbed through the skin. Many CBD products have transdermal properties and are great for topical use. Most commonly the term transdermal will be used to describe CBD patches.
Trichome
The crystal-like molecules on the outside of a marijuana flower (and on leaves and stems) that contain all of the plant’s THC content. Bud that has a high THC content will often look “frosted” because it has a lot of trichomes.
