How We Tested the 4 Corners Cannabis Oral Tincture

I have insomnia. The causes of my insomnia are two-fold. One, I have chronic pain and can only sleep in certain positions due to a large tumor I recently had removed which has given me nerve and muscle damage. The second reason is a highly anxious mind. 

I haven’t had a good night’s sleep since I was ten, (with the exception of that time I had mono). I’ve tried almost everything to help me sleep, from meditation apps to Ambien. Sometimes CBD helps. Sometimes it doesn’t. Mostly, I use it in conjunction with melatonin and/or Benadryl. I’ve tried a couple other CBD-infused oral tinctures and found them to be inconsistent. I found that when using tinctures I need to take a lot to feel the effects of the CBD, particularly if I’m using it for sleep. I wanted to see how this product worked without taking it with anything else, so I took about 50 mg. I’ve taken much higher dosages in the past with other tinctures, but since this is a new brand, I didn’t want to go all in. Per the instructions, I held the stuff under my tongue for 30 seconds before swallowing to allow for increased bioavailability.

My regular bedtime routine consists of taking 5 -15 mg of melatonin and 2-3 Benadryls. I start trying to go to bed at least an hour and a half before I want to sleep in order to allow my mind to shut down. But the night I took 50 mg of 4 Corner Cannabis’ Oral Tincture, I decided to forgo the mellies and bennies (my cute names for melatonin and Benadryl) and just use the CBD. An important fact I learned from the 4 Corners website is that CBD should be consumed 1.5 hours before any other pharmaceuticals that metabolize in the liver (which is about 60% of all medications). I appreciated learning this, and hope other CBD sellers will include a similar warning. If you’re a CBD user who also uses other medications, even Advil, I recommend first researching if what you’re taking is metabolized by the liver in order to avoid any damage. I’d also recommend consulting with a doctor, but I honestly haven’t met one who knows anything about CBD.
